Time and time again, the Bucha brand has demonstrated that they consistently produce a professional and reliable product. Both home brewers and cottage-type semi-professional competitors don’t have the ability to reach this quality.
Instead of using shady methods to develop large quantities of their product, Bucha uses only organic materials…
… and since this isn’t enough, they only select those strains of Kombucha that produce the best quality product.
Now your SCOBY is the key component in brewing your own Kombucha drink. The great thing is that you can actually brew Kombucha tea for years to come with just one SCOBY culture. We’ll get to what a SCOBY actually is in a minute.
Regular - brews 2L: A small SCOBY and enough inoculant to brew 2 litres. This is a nice size for the occasional kombucha drinker.
Large - brews 4L: A larger SCOBY and enough inoculant to brew 4 litres. This is our most popular size & great for regular drinking for one person.
Continuous - brews 10L: This is a massive SCOBY and comes with enough inoculant to brew 10 litres. Many continuous brewers and families opt for this size.
We also offer a COMPLETE KOMBUCHA KIT, with everything you need to start brewing today!
As we age, certain health issues appear or become more pronounced because we've never been taught how to take care of ourselves properly.
Most of us are plagued by some digestive disturbance or another, such as:
… bloating and gas after a meal
… indigestion, reflux, GERD
… constipation or diarrhoea or both
But did you know the following ailments are also related to improper gut health?
… stiffness in joints and arthritic complaints
… lack of immunity towards common colds and flus with a longer recovery time
… lethargy and a general lack of pizazz about every day life
… anxiety and depression (yes! Because of your gut health!)
So why are we all plagued with these issues? We all try to eat healthy, right? Well, our ancestors all knew that proper health could only be maintained with a constant stream of pre- and pro-biotic foods. You see, our digestive health is regulated by the intestinal flora in our gut and with our modern diet of pasteurised food, our friendly bacteria aren't doing so well. Kombucha, kefir, kvass, saurkraut, sourdough, kimchi, ketchup, salsa and so many more condiments and beverages all have their roots in lacto-fermentation, and featured heavily on the plates of ancient cultures at every meal.
Whilst most of these dishes are cumbersome to prepare, kombucha is surprisingly easy and offers even more powerful health benefits. With our kombucha SCOBY, now you have the power to harness this ancient tradition and brew your own kombucha benefits that you and your family can enjoy for generations.
Kombucha is a naturally fermented beverage that enables us to easily:
All these benefits contained in one tasty, refreshing, naturally carbonated Kombucha drink.
When you buy Bucha SCOBY, you will receive easy to follow instructions that thousands of happy brewers already follow to brew their own Kombucha drinks.
Also check out our Kombucha Brewing Supplies category for everything else you need to get brewing faster!
Our SCOBYs are produced using organic black tea, organic brown sugar and filtered rain water. They're packaged economically and packed fresh on shipping day to bring you the very best Kombucha culture (sometimes mis-spelled kambucha) for the lowest price. A complete instruction sheet is included with every order. Be warned, not all SCOBYs are created equally!
All our SCOBYs are creamy white, healthy cultures that have never been dehydrated or refrigerated and are harvested when you order for maximum freshness. Our inoculant (starter liquid) is a potent, mature form of kombucha tea containing yeast strands to ensure your first kombucha brewing experience will be a positive one.
Buy a brand thousands of Aussies have relied on.
A kombucha SCOBY (also known as a mother culture or kombucha mushroom) is a Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast, living harmoniously to form a leathery 'pancake'. The SCOBY is a key component in making fermented tea and…
… with proper care, you can continue making kombucha tea for many years from the same culture.
The fermented tea or Kombucha drink, has been consumed for over 2000 years around the globe, having been extensively studied for its wide variety of medicinal benefits. It is naturally carbonated and tastes great too.
Basically, Kombucha is a raw, all-natural fermented tea packed with probiotics and other healthy amino acids. Benefits include the re-establishment of the natural ecology of the intestinal flora that may have been destroyed through the consumption of antibiotics, poor diet and convalescence.
If brewing your own Kombucha tea using mother culture sounds intimidating and complex to you, rest assured – you will receive a leaflet with simple to follow instructions that thousands of happy Aussies already use with great success.
A SCOBY that has been dehydrated is very susceptible to mold. It might produce 1-2 batches of tea, which are safe to drink, but the SCOBY very soon become contaminated… and no longer useful. In contrast, you can use never-dehydrated SCOBY safely for years. The pure difference in value for money is enormous.
Yes. Sadly, sometimes even smaller. The problem with this is that whilst it is potentially possible to grow your SCOBY over multiple batches, you may lose your culture in the process. Too often unsuspecting brewers give up, thinking it's too complicated…
… or that they've missed something in the instructions. If that’s been you, then here’s the good news - it’s not your fault, it's your starter culture that’s the culprit!
Once your SCOBY has reached its full brewing potential, these problems magically disappear and you can brew happily.
No! The SCOBYs that aren't dehydrated are often packed in plastic for weeks before you order, leaving the SCOBY and inoculant flat and lifeless. With refrigeration, the SCOBY goes dormant and may take several batches to 'wake up'. Without fresh air, the SCOBY will go slimy and the inoculant could go 'off'. Our SCOBYs are guaranteed healthy, in stock and ready to be harvested FRESH when you order. We usually ship same day too.
The key component is a healthy SCOBY culture and enough potent inoculant to launch your brew. You will also require a brewing vessel, some tea, sugar and a HEAT BELT for winter brewing (we can't emphasise the heat belt enough as it is the number one cause of brewing troubles in cold weather). pH test strips are a fabulous way to ensure your starter is potent enough to get your next brew fermenting. Using immature starter with a pH higher than 4.0 will not be potent enough to catalyze the fermentation process and may allow mould to proliferate, spoiling your batch and leaving you frustrated. We highly recommend using a heat belt, thermometer sticker and pH test strips for a smooth, successful brewing journey. Most other equipment can be found easily in a grocery store.
However, if you can't wait to get started and want to be assured you have eveything you need at your fingertips, we also offer a complete kombucha starter kit. Go on, start your own kombucha brewing tradition for the next generation... today!

The culture was received very quick and in the good package.
I have followed the instructions however after about 12 days noticed some brownish stuff that looked like veins appeared on the culture. I am not sure what that is and was too worried to consume the drink yet?
This was my first experience with the product. I worry about molds and consuming bad bacteria?
Company was great about answering all my questions via the Contact Us link though and now I feel happy!

I have my kombucha bubbling away in its jar now and it's looking good. I keep my kombucha warm at night by placing a long heated wheat bag around the jar, then I wrap this up in a woollen jumper and it's set for the night. It really works on those cooler summer nights, especially in Melbourne.
